Coach: Phil Bennett - fired Oct 28 after recording a 1-10 record in 2007 and 18-52 overall record as head coach at SMU.
 
Coach: Hired June Jones Jan 7. Jones led Hawaii to a first ever BCS bowl appearance in 2007.
 
Baylor
Coach: Guy Morriss - fired Nov 18 with a won loss record of 18-40 at Baylor and 3-9 in 2007.
 
Coach: Art Briles - Hired Houston head coach Nov 28.
 
Michigan
Coach: Lloyd Carr - retired Nov 19 with an 8-4 record in 2007 and 121-39 overall record as head coach at Michigan.
 
Coach: Rich Rodriguez - hired from West Virginia Dec 16, Rodriguez won 4 Big East Championships in 5 seasons and had a 60-26 overall record at West Virginia.
 
Texas A&M
Coach: Dennis Franchione - fired Nov 23 after 5 years at Texas A&M. Franchione led the Aggies to a 7-5 season in 2007 and 32-28 overall.
 
Coach: Mike Sherman - Hired Houston Texans offensive coordinator Nov 26.
 
Nebraska
Coach: Bill Callahan - fired Nov 24 after going 4-7 in 2007 and 27-22 overall for the Cornhuskers.
 
Coach: Bo Pelini - Hired LSU defensive coordinator Bo Pelini who will take over after reaching the BCS Championship game.
 
Ole Miss
Coach: Ed Orgeron - fired after compiling an 0-8 record in the SEC in 2007 and 10-25 overall during his tenure.
 
Nov 27 - Named Houston Nutt head coach. Nutt compiled a 75-48 record in 10 seasons as head coach at Arkansas.
 
Georgia Tech
Coach: Chan Gailey - fired Nov 26 after finishing the regular season 7-5 and going 44-32 overall in 6 years at Georgia Tech.
 
Coach: Paul Johnson - Navy headh coach Paul Johnson will take over the Yellow Jackets next season.
 
Duke
Coach: Ted Roof - fired after completing a 1-11 season in 2007 and an overall record of 6-45 in 5 seasons at Duke.
 
Coach: David Cutcliffe - hired Tennessee offensive coordinator and former Ole Miss head coach Dec 14.
 
Southern Miss
Coach: Jeff Bower - fired November 26 with a 7-5 record in 2007 and 119-82-1 record overall at Southern Miss.
 
Coach: Larry Fedora - Oklahoma State offensive coordinator was hired Dec 12.
 
Arkansas
Coach: Houston Nutt - resigned Nov 26 after turning down a contract extension following a road win at #1 LSU in his final regular season game. Nutt coached Arkansas to an 8-4 finish in 2007 and 75-48 overall record in 10 seasons.
 
Coach: Bobby Petrino - Atlanta Falcons head coach left the NFL 13 games into his first season to take over in Fayetteville Dec 11.

Coach: Joe Novak - retired Nov 26 after finishing 2-10 in 2007 and 63-75 overall at Northern Illinois.

Coach: Paul Wulff - 3 time coach of the year in the Big Sky conference as head coach at Eastern Washington for 8 seasons and Washington State alum hired Dec 11.

Coach: Sonny Lubick announced Nov 27 he will retire.
 
Coach: Steve Fairchild - The Rams hired Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Fairchild on Dec 12.
